Baseball Recap: Sandia Prep Takes Down Cobre in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Sandia Prep rose to the challenge on Friday. They blew past the Cobre Indians 17-7. Considering the Sundevils have won ten games by more than eight runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Sandia Prep got a massive performance out of Logan Lemons, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. Lemons has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Lucas Ruelas also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

The victory (which was Sandia Prep's fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-12. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.5 runs over those games. As for Cobre, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 16-11.

Sandia Prep will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Indians: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
