After a string of eight wins, South Elgin's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of the West Aurora Blackhawks by a score of 5-4. The Storm were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blackhawks apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2019.

Nathan Kmiec was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one double.

South Elgin's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 10-9. As for West Aurora, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-2.

While South Elgin had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
