Recap: Hillcrest Trojans vs. Linfield Christian Lions
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The Hillcrest Trojans, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They took a 46-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Linfield Christian on Friday. Hillcrest's defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Hillcrest's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Matthew Ramos, who gained 89 total yards and two touchdowns, and also threw for six yards and a touchdown. The team also got some help courtesy of Alfredo Vences, who rushed for 121 yards while picking up 7.1 yards per carry.
Thomas Paschal was the offensive standout of the matchup as he threw for 314 yards and four touchdowns while completing 80.8% of his passes. Marcus Dylke did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 96 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Hillcrest now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Linfield Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.
Hillcrest does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Linfield Christian will head out on the road to face off against Quartz Hill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Quartz Hill will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
