Southern Choctaw put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 53-18 win over the Fruitdale Pirates. The Indians have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 22 points or more this season.

Southern Choctaw's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Marcionna Young led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards. Young is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was McKenna Legier, who posted nine points and six steals.

Southern Choctaw smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 17 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Southern Choctaw pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.0 points per game. As for Fruitdale, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Southern Choctaw will welcome Choctaw County at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Southern Choctaw is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57.5 points per game this season. As for Fruitdale, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Millry at 2:00 p.m. on January 9, 2025.
