Football Recap: Belleville West Takes a Loss

If Belleville West was feeling good fresh off their 68-6 takedown of Normandy last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Maroons lost to the Edwardsville Tigers on the road by a 48-30 margin on Friday. The Maroons were not able to make up for their defeat to the Tigers from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

Edwardsville was led to victory by Yale Weaver and Brandon Houston Jr.. Weaver rushed for 228 yards and a pair of TDs while picking up 9.9 yards per carry, while Houston Jr. rushed for 177 yards and two scores on only 15 carries. Houston Jr.'s longest rush was for an impressive 57 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Eric Smith also deserves some recognition as he hauled in his first receiving touchdown of the season.

Belleville West's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Edwardsville, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
