South Pasadena unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were outmatched by the El Segundo Eagles and fell 62-34. The Tigers were down 41-21 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

South Pasadena's loss on Thursday came despite strong showings from Lorcan Swift and Trey Freking. Swift picked up 163 receiving yards and two TDs, while Freking rushed for 76 yards and a pair of scores. Swift was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 61 yards.

Ryan Wiacek was nothing short of spectacular for El Segundo: he rushed for 136 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries, and also threw for 189 yards and a pair of TDs. That's the most passing yards Wiacek has posted since back in August of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lincoln Quaintance, who rushed for 110 yards and two scores on only five carries.

Coming up, South Pasadena is headed away from home for the first time to take on Arcadia at 7:00 p.m. on the 29th. As for El Segundo, they will welcome Temescal Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on the 29th.
