Creekside Christian Academy falls despite strong effort from Cedric Taylor

Recap: Creekside Christian Academy Cougars vs. Riverwood Raiders

After a string of five wins, the Creekside Christian Academy Cougars's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. The game between Creekside Christian Academy and Riverwood wasn't particularly close, with Creekside Christian Academy falling 86-69. While losing is never fun, Creekside Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while Riverwood is ranked 28th).

When it comes to explaining why Creekside Christian Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Cedric Taylor. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Taylor continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Bilal Osman, who scored 19 points.

Even though they lost, Creekside Christian Academy were working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Riverwood only racked up nine assists.

It was another big night for Karris Bilal, who scored 40 points along with three steals for Riverwood. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bilal has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of JR Leonard, who scored 26 points along with five steals.

Creekside Christian Academy bumped their record down to 11-5 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Riverwood, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Creekside Christian Academy will take on Wilson Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Riverwood, Riverwood and South Cobb will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
