Softball Game Preview: Franklin Quakers vs. Roosevelt Roughriders

For the second straight game, Franklin will face off against Roosevelt. The Quakers will be playing at home against the Roughriders at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Franklin has given up an average of 8.5 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Franklin's last matchup with Roosevelt could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's match on Thursday. The Quakers lost 21-6 to the Roughriders. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Quakers have suffered since April 22nd.

For Roosevelt's part, Ruby Frish made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off six hits. With that strong performance, Frish is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Leslie Homan was a standout: she went 4-for-6 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Zulaykha Armstrachan, who went 3-for-5 with four runs, four RBI, and one triple.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Roosevelt, bringing their record up to 15-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Franklin, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-13-1.
