Baseball Recap: Model Comes Up Short

Model extended their losing streak to ten on Monday, dropping them down to 2-21. They came up short against the Rockcastle County Rockets, falling 9-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Rockets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-1 back in March.

As for Rockcastle County, they pushed their record up to 22-8 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Considering they have won 12 games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

For Rockcastle County's part, Brayden Thacker and Sawyer Yates made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Thacker pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Yates struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances. At the plate, Thacker went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI, while Yates went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most stolen bases Thacker has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Hunter Pingleton was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. Jack Childress was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Coincidentally, Model and Rockcastle County will both be playing Garrard County the next time they take the field. The Patriots will head out to face the Golden Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Rockets will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
