Football Recap: Laney Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Laney fell victim to Thomson and their airtight defense on Friday. They had to suffer through a 35-0 loss at the hands of the Bulldogs. The defeat continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost six in a row.

Thomson's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Markevion Jones led the charge by rushing for 128 yards on only five carries, while also throwing for 144 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes. Jones' passing game has become a key predictor of the Bulldogs' success: the team is 2-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Another receiver making a difference was Jaris Sinkfield, who gained 94 total yards and three touchdowns.

Laney's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Thomson, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Coming up, Laney will challenge Josey at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Thomson, they will be playing at home against Burke County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bears will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight.
