Basketball Recap: Dutchtown Sets Scoring Season-High Against Woodward Academy

Dutchtown and Woodward Academy squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Dutchtown had to settle for second. They received a blow as they fell 85-66 to the Woodward Academy War Eagles. One positive for the Bulldogs, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Woodward Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Z Williams out in front who went 12-for-20 to rack up 25 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Those 25 points gave Williams a new career-high. Kayla Whitner was another key player, going 8-for-13 en route to 21 points and three blocks.

Dutchtown has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests, which has put a noticeable dent in their 15-14 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.0 points over those games. As for Woodward Academy, the win (which was their 15th in a row) raised their record to 22-5.

Dutchtown does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Woodward Academy, they will take on Creekview on Friday. Woodward Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 16 matchups -- so hopefully Creekview likes a good challenge.
