Softball Recap: Beacon Bulldogs vs. Port Jervis Raiders
Beacon extended their losing streak to nine on Monday, dropping their season record down to 1-10 in the process. They lost 13-1 to the Port Jervis Raiders. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Raiders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 19-4 back in April.
Beacon saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ava Lassiter, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one RBI. That RBI marked the first that Lassiter has brought in this season.
As for Port Jervis, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-2. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by eight runs or more this season.
On Port Jervis' side, Madison Dobbs spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. Dobbs has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Port Jervis got a massive performance out of Alabama Stankewicz, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Charlotte Rivera, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
Beacon didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 12-0 loss against New Paltz on the 13th. As for Port Jervis, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 27-18 victory against Chester on the 14th.
