Football Recap: Mooresville Starts off Right with Win over Bloomington North

Mooresville had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They strolled past the Bloomington North Cougars with points to spare, taking the game 28-14. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Pioneers also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2024.

Mooresville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Connor Cruz led the charge by throwing for 127 yards and three TDs. The dominant performance also gave Cruz a new career-high in rushing yards (19). Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Tyler Denny, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Mooresville didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Bloomington North to a completion percentage of just 40%. The Pioneers weren't nearly as limited: they posted one of 48.4%.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mooresville will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against Terre Haute North Vigo at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bloomington North, they will welcome Bedford North Lawrence at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
