Football Game Preview: Lorain Titans vs. Mentor Cardinals

The Lorain Titans will challenge the Mentor Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lorain has given up an average of 33.8 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Friday, Lorain took a blow against Strongsville, falling 43-14. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 374th, while the Mustangs are ranked 89th).

Meanwhile, Mentor put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Shaker Heights 49-0. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Cardinals had established a 42-point advantage.

Mentor's win came from a few key players Lorain will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Justen Hodge, who picked up 162 receiving yards and three touchdowns. His longest reception was for an incredible 72 yards. Another player making a difference was Jackson Farley, who rushed for 87 yards and a pair of scores on only 12 carries.

Mentor didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Ben Schenk and James Findak. Schenk has been hot recently, having also posted six or more total tackles the last three times he's played.

Lorain has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-6 record this season. As for Mentor, their win bumped their record up to 8-0.
