Baseball Game Preview: DeKalb Barbs vs. Naperville Central Redhawks

For the second straight game, DeKalb will face off against Naperville Central. The Barbs will head out on the road to take on the Redhawks at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. DeKalb's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Naperville Central's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

DeKalb took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Naperville Central 4-3. The Barbs haven't had any issues with the Redhawks recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Brodie Farrell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

Farrell wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Kees, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

DeKalb pushed their record up to 16-4-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Naperville Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.
