Softball Recap: Burlington Township Falcons vs. Northern Burlington Greyhounds

Burlington Township fell victim to Northern Burlington and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They fell just short of the Northern Burlington Greyhounds by a score of 2-0. Burlington Township has not had much luck with Northern Burlington recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.

Rylee Reid spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive pitching appearances.

On Northern Burlington's side, not much got past Mikayla Fontana, who gave up just three hits and racked up ten Ks to keep Burlington Township off the board.

On the hitting side, Haley MacArthur was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

Burlington Township's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Northern Burlington, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 15-3.

Burlington Township will head out on the road to face off against Monroe Township at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Northern Burlington, they will be playing at home against Florence Township Memorial at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Northern Burlington is on a three-game streak of home wins, Florence Township Memorial a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field.
