Baseball Recap: Jacobs Continues Home Dominance on Saturday

Jacobs lost to Hononegah back in June of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. Jacobs came out on top against Hononegah by a score of 7-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Golden Eagles.

Aiden Stumpf made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Stumpf was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

In other pitching news, Jacobs got a great performance from Braden Behrens as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Gavin Grummer, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Andrew Deegan, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Jacobs' win was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Hononegah, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Looking ahead, Jacobs will venture away from home to face off against Murphysboro at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Jacobs is facing Murphysboro at the right time seeing as Murphysboro is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Hononegah, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Prairie Ridge at 4:30 p.m. Prairie Ridge will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Hononegah surely won't give up without a fight.
