Football Game Preview: Northmont Thunderbolts vs. Springfield Wildcats

The Northmont Thunderbolts will head out on the road to face off against the Springfield Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Northmont is looking for their season's first victory.

Northmont will face Springfield after dropping another heartbreaker against Miamisburg on Friday, which marked the second time in a row the team's come within three of beating them. The Thunderbolts lost to the Vikings at home by a 28-14 margin. On the bright side, the 14- point effort marked the Thunderbolts' highest-scoring matchup to date.

Meanwhile, Springfield's game on Friday was all tied up 7-7 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell just short of Fairmont by a score of 10-7. The loss continues a trend for the Wildcats in their meetings with the Firebirds: they've now lost three in a row.

Northmont's defeat dropped their record down to 0-9. As for Springfield, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 5-4.

Northmont was dealt a bruising 48-7 defeat at the hands of Springfield in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Can the Thunderbolts avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
