Softball Recap: Arlington Tigers vs. Collierville Dragons
Arlington proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by ten) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 win over the Collierville Dragons. The victory continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Dragons: they've now won seven in a row.
Brittanie Layton spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Breleigh Bunker was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Rory Caldwell was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.
Bunker wasn't the only one making solid contact: Arlington kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive matchups.
Arlington's win bumped their record up to 7-9-2. As for Collierville, their loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-7-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arlington will challenge Houston at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
