Recap: Statesboro Blue Devils vs. Swainsboro Tigers

The Statesboro Blue Devils only won by two when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 21-point they dealt the Swainsboro Tigers on Saturday. Statesboro put the hurt on Swainsboro with a sharp 59-38 win. Given Statesboro's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while Swainsboro is ranked 330th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Statesboro to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ja'caiden Cone, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. That's the first time this season that Cone pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kamron (kam) Mikell, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and four steals.

Statesboro is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. As for Swainsboro, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-11.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Statesboro will take on Greenbrier at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Greenbrier is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for Swainsboro, they will stay at home for another game and welcome Jefferson County at 6:30 p.m. on February 2nd.
