Basketball Recap: Emery Liddick Key Part of a Team Effort in Knights Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Oak Hill, Southwood was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They snuck past the Lewis Cass Kings with a 50-45 win. For the Knights, this counts as revenge for the 56-52 victory the Kings walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2024.

Southwood got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Emery Liddick out in front who went 6 for 9 on his way to 18 points. Those 18 points gave Liddick a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddox Marshall, who posted ten points in addition to five boards and four steals.

When it comes to explaining why Lewis Cass lost, don't look at Brody Hillis. Despite the final result, he earned eight points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Bryce Rudd, who had eight points and three steals.

Southwood now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Lewis Cass, their loss was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Southwood will face off against Northwestern at 8:00 p.m. on January 31st. As for Lewis Cass, they will square off against Maconaquah at 7:45 p.m. on January 31st. Maconaquah has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 239 points over their last three matchups.
