Softball Recap: Silver Stage Comes Up Short

Silver Stage had lost five straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 2-15 to make it six. They came up short against the Pershing County Mustangs, falling 16-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Nighthawks of the 19-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Silver Stage saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joselyn Fauyad, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

As for Pershing County, they moved to 11-13 with that win, which also ended their six-game losing streak. Considering they have won nine contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

On Pershing County's side, Jerzie Jones made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Those nine strikeouts gave Jones a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jaymie George, who fired off three triples, two runs, and two RBI while getting on base in six of her four plate appearances. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Arya Garland, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Pershing County beat Silver Stage by a score of 22-10 on Saturday.
