Basketball Recap: Gary West Side's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Gary West Side won the last time they faced Hammond Central and things went their way on Friday too. The Gary West Side Cougars walked away with a 68-57 win over the Hammond Central Wolves. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Cougars as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

When it comes to explaining why Hammond Central lost, don't look at Marcus Browder. Despite the final result, he went 10 of 18 on his way to 23 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. Browder has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gregory Dotson, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 16 points.

The win got Gary West Side back to even at 3-3. As for Hammond Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.

Gary West Side and Marquette Catholic will compete for holiday cheer at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hammond Central, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 81-72 defeat against Michigan City on the 14th.
