Baseball Recap: Orange Cove Victorious

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Orange Cove ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Orosi Cardinals, sneaking past 3-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Orange Cove got a great performance from Adrian Gonzalez as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over 7.2 innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave Gonzalez a new career-high.

At the plate, Jeremiah Silva was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brandon Gonzalez, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Orange Cove's victory bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Orosi, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9-1 record this season.

Orange Cove didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 10-6 win against Farmersville on the 10th. As for Orosi, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 9-1 victory against Granite Hills on the 7th.
