Last Monday, Mount Pleasant was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 41-36 to West Rowan. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now lost three in a row.

Meanwhile, Southwestern Randolph put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past Uwharrie Charter Academy with points to spare, taking the game 59-45. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 37th, while the Eagles are ranked 140th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Southwestern Randolph's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-0. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.6 points per game. As for Mount Pleasant, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.
