Grayslake Central waltzed into their matchup on Friday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They snuck past the Glenbard West Hilltoppers with a 45-39 win. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Rams' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 168th, while the Hilltoppers are ranked 30th).

Grayslake Central's win bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Glenbard West, they moved to 9-3 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Grayslake Central will take on Mundelein in a tournament on Monday. As for Glenbard West, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Wheaton-Warrenville South at 11:00 a.m. on January 3, 2025.
