Basketball Recap: Ryan Lord Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Douglas Byrd

Jack Britt's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They came out on top against the Douglas Byrd Eagles by a score of 60-48. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Buccaneers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Jack Britt got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ryan Lord out in front who posted nine points along with seven rebounds and three steals. That's the most steals Lord has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of DeRyian Mitchell, who went 6 of 7 on his way to 18 points.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Anthony Whitehead, who put up 11 points. Liam Irizarry was another key player, putting up nine points.

Jack Britt's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-7. As for Douglas Byrd, they dropped their record down to 4-6 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jack Britt will face off against Purnell Swett at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Jack Britt is facing Purnell Swett at the right time seeing as Purnell Swett is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Douglas Byrd, they will challenge Gray's Creek at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
