Baseball Recap: Mallard Creek Takes a Loss

Mallard Creek managed to slip by Independence the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Mallard Creek Mavericks lost 12-2 to the Independence Patriots on Friday. The loss leaves the Mavericks still looking for their first win of the season.

Mallard Creek saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Brissie, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2. The dominant performance gave Brissie a new career-high in stolen bases. David Victoria also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Mallard Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Independence, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mallard Creek will head out to face off against West Charlotte at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The match will give West Charlotte their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season. As for Independence, they will venture away from home to square off against Charlotte Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Independence will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
