Game recap: Pima High School Football Team defeats Superior

PIMA, Ariz. - the Roughriders had a big 38-point second quarter on Saturday, sealing a 68-8 victory over Superior (Ariz.).

Pima scored on a passing touchdown, a passing touchdown, a Devon Kartchner touchdown pass to Glen Tavesi, a touchdown run by Kartchner and a Marley Grant touchdown run in the quarter.

After taking the lead on a touchdown run in the first quarter, PHS led 46-0 at the half.

The Roughriders grew their lead to 54 points entering the fourth quarter. Pima scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown run by Tavesi.

Pima's most effective player was Tavesi. The senior halfback. He has now scored five touchdowns on the season.

Superior's lone touchdown came on a 60-yard pass in the fourth quarter.



Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 44-28 win for the Roughriders.

The loss was the fourth in a row for the Panthers. With the win Pima extended its winning streak to four games.

Pima (4-0) goes up against Duncan in a VI Section IV (8 Man) game matchup next week, while Superior (0-4) locks horns with Hayden also in a VI Section IV (8 Man) game.
