Recap: Desert Christian Eagles vs. Dishchii'bikoh Wildcats
The Desert Christian Eagles had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. In a tight match that could have gone either way, they made off with a 40-39 win over Dishchii'bikoh. This was payback for Desert Christian, who suffered a 46-29 loss the last time these two teams met.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Desert Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Anika Mulkey, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Mulkey has scored at least 25% of Desert Christian's points. Addison Jones was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Desert Christian's win bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Dishchii'bikoh, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Desert Christian's road trip will continue as they head out to face Madison Highland Prep at 5:30 p.m. on January 8th. Madison Highland Prep comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Dishchii'bikoh, they will head out on the road to face off against Ray at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
