Basketball Recap: Ninety Six Comes Up Short

Ninety Six was the 58-55 winner over Batesburg-Leesville when they last played one another back in February of 2020, but their luck changed this time around. The Ninety Six Wildcats fell just short of the Batesburg-Leesville Panthers by a score of 43-41 on Friday. The Wildcats' loss continues a trend for the team, making it five in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Batesburg-Leesville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ta'Maj Gilliam, who posted 13 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Martin, who earned nine points.

Ninety Six's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Batesburg-Leesville, they pushed their record up to 8-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Ninety Six Wildcats duke it out with the Saluda Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Batesburg-Leesville, they are taking a road trip to square off against American Leadership Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
