Volleyball Recap: Auburndale Extends Winning Streak to Nine

Auburndale had already won eight in a row and they went ahead and made it nine on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Lakeland Dreadnaughts as they made off with a 3-0 win. This was a revenge game for the Bloodhounds: when they faced off against the Dreadnaughts back in March, they had to take a 3-2 loss.

While Auburndale won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 27-25, 25-19.

Auburndale's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Randy Tillman led the charge by getting 13 digs and three blocks. Those three blocks gave Tillman a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sebastian Crespo-Jimenez, who had 26 digs and one assist.

Despite the defeat, Lakeland saw an underclassman step up: freshman Casen Feacher had 17 digs and two aces.

Auburndale's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4. As for Lakeland, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.

Looking ahead, Auburndale will face off against Bartow at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Lakeland, they will take on George Jenkins at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their 19th straight win, something the Dreadnaughts surely won't give up without a fight.
