Baseball Game Preview: Evergreen Plainsmen vs. Heritage Timberwolves

The Evergreen Plainsmen will take on the Heritage Timberwolves at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Heritage took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Evergreen, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Evergreen turned things around against Prairie on Thursday. They walked away with a 7-2 win over the Falcons.

Ryno Catabay made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Evergreen is 2-1 when Catabay allows one or fewer earned runs, but 1-3 otherwise. Catabay was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Malachi Lewis was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That double was his first of the season.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for Heritage's offense. They lost 10-0 to Kelso on Thursday. The Timberwolves have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Heritage's loss dropped their record down to 2-5-2. As for Evergreen, their victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-4.
