Basketball Game Preview: Sunray Bobcats vs. Vega Longhorns

The Sunray Bobcats will venture away from home to square off against the Vega Longhorns at 6:15 p.m. on Friday. Sunray has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with three straight losses, while Vega will come in with six straight victories.

On Tuesday, Sunray lost to Stratford at home by a 52-35 margin. While losing is never fun, the Bobcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1026th, while the Elks are ranked 77th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Vega). They came out on top against Sanford-Fritch by a score of 60-49 on Tuesday.

Vega's win bumped their record up to 16-5. As for Sunray, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-17.

Sunray lost to Vega on the road by a decisive 51-33 margin in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Can Sunray avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
