Basketball Game Preview: Esperanza Aztecs vs. Whittier Christian Heralds

The Esperanza Aztecs will be taking part in a tournament against the Whittier Christian Heralds at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Esperanza knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five contests -- so hopefully Whittier Christian likes a good challenge.

Esperanza picked up another tournament win on Tuesday. They walked away with a 71-62 victory over Northwood. The win continues a trend for the Aztecs in their matchups with the Timberwolves: they've now won three in a row.

Meanwhile, Whittier Christian earned a 61-54 victory over Valencia on Wednesday.

Whittier Christian's win came from a few key players Esperanza will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was GW London, who went 9-for-20 en route to 31 points. Those 31 points gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gage Baker, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 15 rebounds.

Esperanza's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Whittier Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 4-2.
