Preview: Fairport Red Raiders vs. Victor Blue Devils
Fairport is 0-10 against Victor since December of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Fairport Red Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the Victor Blue Devils at 7:15 p.m. Fairport knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matches -- so hopefully Victor likes a good challenge.
On Wednesday, Fairport was able to grind out a solid win over Irondequoit, taking the game 60-51. Given Fairport's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while Irondequoit is ranked 164th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Victor pushed their score all the way to 57 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 81-57 walloping at the hands of Bishop Timon-St. Jude. Victor was down 63-43 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Fairport pushed their record up to 9-2 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Victor, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-4.
Fairport came up short against Victor in their previous matchup back in March of 2023, falling 66-54. Can Fairport avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
