Soccer Game Preview: Combs vs. Poston Butte

The Combs Coyotes will head out to square off against the Poston Butte Broncos at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Combs is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 4.1 goals per game this season.

Combs took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over Eastmark. The Coyotes found success even though the refs didn't miss a thing: Izaak Jeffcoat and Alexander Payan were both handed yellow cards.

Nathan Alvarez and Andy Acosta scored all three of Combs' goals, bringing their combined season tally to ten goals.

Meanwhile, Poston Butte was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against ALA - Queen Creek, falling 6-1.

Combs is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. As for Poston Butte, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.

Everything went Combs' way against Poston Butte in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as Combs made off with a 7-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Combs since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
