Basketball Game Preview: Wayne Eagles vs. Newark Reds

Wayne hasn't had much luck against Newark recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Eagles will venture away from home to take on the Reds at 7:00 p.m.

On Friday, Wayne had to suffer through a 58-24 loss at the hands of Bloomfield. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 362nd, while the Bombers are ranked 82nd).

Meanwhile, Newark took their game on Saturday with ease, bagging a 64-16 win over Franklin. The Reds have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 30 points or more this season.

Newark pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points over those games. As for Wayne, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.

Wayne took a serious blow against Newark in their previous matchup back in December of 2025, falling 58-28. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
