Basketball Recap: Charlotte Country Day School Takes a Loss

After flying high against Charlotte Christian last Friday, Charlotte Country Day School came back down to earth. The Charlotte Country Day School Buccaneers took a 56-45 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Charlotte Latin Hawks on Tuesday. The Buccaneers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Hawks earlier this season, when they won 49-46.

When it comes to explaining why Charlotte Country Day School lost, don't look at Sam Vanderhave. Despite the final result, she posted 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cj Starnes, who earned six points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Charlotte Latin to victory, but perhaps none more so than Charlotte Tune, who went 8 for 13 on her way to 22 points and five steals. With that strong performance, Tune is now averaging an impressive 15.3 points per game. Another player making a difference was Wallace Roberts, who had six points along with eight boards and five assists.

Charlotte Country Day School dropped their record down to 18-10 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Charlotte Latin, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Charlotte Country Day School has already played their next matchup (against Covenant Day), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Charlotte Latin will challenge Providence Day at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Providence Day will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Charlotte Latin surely won't give up without a fight.
