Baseball Recap: Avondale Comes Up Short at Home Against Lamphere

Avondale unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Lamphere Rams on Wednesday, falling 13-3. The Yellowjackets have struggled against the Rams recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meetings.

Avondale saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joe Arends, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Paul Scherbarth was another, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Avondale will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Lutheran Northwest at 4:30 p.m. on April 3rd. As for Lamphere, they will head out on the road to take on Troy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
