Softball Game Preview: North Florida Christian Eagles vs. St. John Paul II Panthers

The North Florida Christian Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the St. John Paul II Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. North Florida Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.

On Monday, North Florida Christian was able to grind out a solid win over Taylor County, taking the game 6-3. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won three in a row.

Skylar Young was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Young was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Young wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Brynlee Pafford, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, St. John Paul II came up short against Franklin County on Thursday and fell 6-1. The defeat continues a trend for the Panthers in their meetings with the Seahawks: they've now lost six in a row.

Like North Florida Christian, St. John Paul II also got a great game from a two-way player: AMANDA THOMPSON. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. THOMPSON was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

St. John Paul II's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for North Florida Christian, their record is now 10-5.

North Florida Christian couldn't quite get it done against St. John Paul II when the teams last played two weeks ago as they fell 3-0. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
