Hobbton's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They blew past the Union Spartans 20-5. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Wildcats as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
Aubree McLamb made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. McLamb was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Graci Barefoot and Madison Sinclair did most of the damage at the plate: Barefoot scored four runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances, while Sinclair went 1-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI Sinclair has posted since back in February. Claire Meyer was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
Hobbton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .516. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive contests.
Hobbton's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-8. As for Union, they dropped their record down to 0-6 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season.
Coming up, Hobbton will take on Pender at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Union, they will face off against Lakewood at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
