Basketball Recap: Mitchell's Luck Changes for the Better on Friday

Mitchell had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 61-54 victory over the North Platte Bulldogs on Friday. This was payback for the Tigers, who suffered a 72-62 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Logan Hayes, who went 6 for 12 en route to 17 points and five rebounds. Those 17 points gave Hayes a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Eli Broman, who went 5 of 12 on his way to 12 points along with six boards and three steals.

Mitchell's win bumped their record up to 8-10. As for North Platte, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-17.

Mitchell wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 54-41 loss against Chadron on the 1st. North Platte has also already played their next matchup, a 73-17 victory against Liberty Tree Academy on the 1st.
