Tri-Central is 0-7 against Delphi Community since April of 2021 but things could change on Wednesday. The Trojans will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Oracles at 5:45 p.m. Tri-Central has given up an average of 10.8 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Tri-Central is headed into Wednesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They came up short against Carroll, falling 11-1.
Tri-Central saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brody Arnold, who went 1-for-3 with one run. That hit marked the first that Arnold has got this season.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last game, Delphi Community made sure to put some runs up on the board against Benton Central on Tuesday. The Oracles blew past the Bison 12-4. Considering the Oracles have won three contests by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Keygan Elliott made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. Elliott was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Delphi Community got a massive performance out of Brett Huffman, who went 2-for-5 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Huffman is becoming a predictor of the Oracles' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 0-5 when he doesn't). Xaine Tessier was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Delphi Community was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Benton Central only posted a batting average of .208.
Delphi Community's win ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-5. As for Tri-Central, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
Tri-Central suffered a grim 13-1 defeat to Delphi Community in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Trojans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
