Softball Recap: Cleveland Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Cleveland ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past the Roosevelt Roughriders 5-4. This was a revenge game for the Warriors: when they faced off against the Roughriders back in April, they had to take a 12-6 loss.

Jillian Lee made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 15 batters over eight innings while giving up four earned runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Cleveland got a big performance out of Clara Waldron, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI. That's the most hits Waldron has posted since back in April of 2024. Vivian Schroedel was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Cleveland was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .486. They are 6-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Cleveland pushed their record up to 9-12 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Roosevelt, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-7.

Coincidentally, Cleveland and Roosevelt will both be playing Grant the next time they take the field. The Warriors will host the Generals at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Roughriders will head out to face them at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
