Football Game Preview: Lockport Lions vs. West Seneca West Warhawks

The Lockport Lions will venture away from home to square off against the West Seneca West Warhawks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lockport has given up an average of 38.8 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lockport is headed into Friday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight games on Saturday. They were outmatched by Lewis J. Bennett/Olmsted/Middle Early College/East and fell 56-14. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 330th, while the Tigers are ranked 22nd).

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely West Seneca West's strategy against Niagara-Wheatfield on Friday. The Warhawks were the clear victors by a 33-7 margin over the Falcons. Considering the Warhawks have won three contests by more than 23 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

West Seneca West pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 10.6 points on average over those games. As for Lockport, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.

Lockport was able to grind out a solid victory over West Seneca West in their previous matchup back in September of 2023, winning 23-11. Do the Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warhawks turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
