Softball Recap: Sudan Hornets vs. New Home Leopards

Sudan came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 22-12 to the New Home Leopards. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (11), the Hornets still had to take the loss.

Daniella Ramirez stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she scored two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. What's more, she posted two hits, the most she's had since back in February. Lillianna Sanchez was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

Even though they lost, Sudan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. This was only their first loss (out of nine games) when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Sudan's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7-1. As for New Home, their win ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4.

Sudan has already played their next game, a 19-15 victory against Petersburg on the 15th. As for New Home, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 9-0 loss against Trinity Christian on the 13th.
