Basketball Game Preview: Kings Knights vs. Mason Comets

The Kings Knights will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Mason Comets at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, the stars were shining brightly for Kings in a 41-23 win over Anderson.

Meanwhile, Mason put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They took down Sycamore 48-31. Given the Comets' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while the Aviators are ranked 466th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mason's win came from a few key players Kings will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Anna Habra, who went 8 of 16 on her way to 20 points along with six boards and three steals. That's the most points she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylor Stanfield, who went 5 of 11 on her way to 13 points and eight rebounds.

Mason pushed their record up to 9-0 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Kings, their record now sits at 3-5.

Kings took a serious blow against Mason when the teams last played back in February of 2016, falling 64-29. Can Kings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
