Softball Recap: Taylorville Takes a Loss

Taylorville lost against Meridian back in April of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Tornadoes lost 18-5 to the Hawks. The loss leaves the Tornadoes still looking for their first win of the season.

Grace Rogers made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs, three runs, and one double while going 3-for-3. Those runs marked the first that she scored this season. Kyleigh Heimsness was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Taylorville's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Meridian, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.

Coming up, Taylorville will square off against MacArthur at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Generals have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.25 runs per game on average), something the Tornadoes will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Meridian, they will challenge Sangamon Valley/Tri-City at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
