Baseball Game Preview: Wayne Christian Eagles vs. Coastal Christian Centurions

For the second straight game, Wayne Christian will face off against Coastal Christian. Wayne Christian will head out to take on Coastal Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Wayne Christian is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over Coastal Christian on Tuesday. The Eagles have beaten the Centurions the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Centurions has come to flipping the script.

Brandon Benkovics was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Wayne Christian is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Benkovics was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Caden Salazar Embich was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Jackson Sawrey also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Wayne Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Coastal Christian only posted an OBP of .269.

Coastal Christian is on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9. As for Wayne Christian, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 4-5.
